Why we hand-on-Nimki-heart know you're gonna love it...

This simple recipe is a great way to start experimenting with natural, 100% vegan ingredients if you're interested in packaging free alternatives that don't break the bank!

We love this formula because working with melted Cocoa Butter is super fun & only involves a few ingredients, so it's a great place to get started. We hope you love your new lip balm & that this is just the start of your DIY skincare escapades!

Ingredients

  • 15g Organic Shea Butter
  • 85g Organic Cocoa Butter
  • 5 Drops of Lavender
  • 5 Drops of Sweet Orange
  • 5 drops of Frankincense

Directions

Step 1

Begin by measuring out your Shea and Cocoa Butter into two separate bowls. Next, combine them in a heatproof glass measuring jug.

Step 2

In a small measuring cup, weigh out your carrier oil and add your essential oils. Place to one side.

Step 3

Time to create a water bath! Fill a large pot halfway with water and set it on the stove to boil. When the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low, and carefully place your measuring jug inside, ensuring the handle is outside the pot. Be cautious not to let the water splash into the jug. Use a knife to stir gently as the Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter melt slowly, keeping a close eye on the process. Once the liquid turns clear, turn off the stove, wrap a tea towel around the jug handle, and slowly lift it out of the water. Wipe around the edges before placing it down.

Step 4

Pour in the carrier & essential oil mixture, gently stir until homogenous.

Step 5

Carefully pour the mixture into silicone moulds or any suitable containers (anything small and round enough) you have at home to keep your lip balm secure. If you have an empty Nimki Hand Cream tin, give it a good wash and repurpose it. Now, exercise patience! Pop your lip balm in the fridge for approx. 1 hour.

Step 6

Once the lip balms look firm, gently pop out of the mould and wa-la! Your lip balm is ready to be used to give your lips the extra TLC they deserve.

Care Instructions: Keep at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.

Handy Tips:

1. For extra nourishment & a thicker texture, experiment by reducing cocoa butter in small percentages (1% = 1g) and replace with Shea Butter.

2. Use the same formula to create a hand or massage bar and you can increase your essential oil blend to 1%. You will need mini food scales if you are planning to level up your skincare game & measure your essential oils!

Happy making friends!
